  1. Might be neat to experience a self driving car but I rather control the car myself. I know little about its feature but is it able to avoid potholes and is it able to notice the little child/pet running along the sidewalk and slow its speed for safety?

  2. If its illegal to drive while on your phone. Hmm. Shouldn't full touchscreens that take your eyes further from the road than a traditional speedometer be illegal to. Seems like a double standard right. Big ass screens in your car with info you need to drive safely. Supposed to be smart but such a dumb tech choice.

  3. I didn't think that this car was so frustrating to use. But trying to turn on the wipers through a computer interface? 😂 Shocking really.

I honestly hate how cars are becoming mobile phones. You need to have wifi, Bluetooth etc. You have to pair it with your phone. You need an app to play your music in the damn car etc.

The only computer that should ever be in a car is the ECU. That's it. You're driving a car, having a screen that size that you have to interact with while driving is unsafe.

  4. that requiring data for voice control thing is a big no no for me, as data is extremely expensive where i live, like a 10gb plan is $100+ here.

  5. Using a tablet to control everything in the car is a huge stupidity. I would never buy this garbage just because of that interface for millennials. Paying more than 50 grands for a bumpy car, no thank you.

  6. The level of backwards rationalization in the comments is astounding. People are defending the way it's been designed rather than thinking of how it could be better, it's disgusting.

  7. UPDATES HAVE BEEN ROLLED OUT SINCE THIS VIDEO WAS MADE. Cruise follow distance has been added to the steering wheel the the wiper settings have been made easier. I forget if they were added to a stalk or not. Unlike other cars and with other manufacturers, Tesla can change or add features to the existing controls in the car or on the steering wheel by software updates. Complains about these kinds of issues with Teslas eventually get changed or solved so they should never be a concern.

  8. Some of these problems have been fixed since this video was made. Since it was just a matter of over-the-air software updates, you didn't even have to take the car to the shop.

  9. The dashboard is the reason i won't get a model 3. I'd rather a used model s or x TBH.

I don't understand why Elon pushes back so hard against a standard Dashboard, or even a digital HUD that would fit right in with the rest of tesla's future tech. Why not have a built in digital HUD into the windshield like LESSER vehicles do?

And when confronted about this on twitter, elon acted like a complete snob about it who thinks he knows what everyone wants. I love Elon, i love tesla… but i absolutely HATE the dashboard of the model 3.

It'd be one thing if it was optionally bare bones, or if they had a higher end package with more of a model s/x dashboard… but without that, the 3 is dead on arrival for me.

what a shame, but i do love their cars and will probably grab an S for the wife this christmas

  10. The 'hey, i'm threatened by a car which uses tech to ultimately simplify my experience' review. The crux of his complaints, the wiper's functionality, isn't even correct.

  11. The wheels/rocker switches on the steering wheel are multi-function. In autopilot they can control speed and separation. Depending on the mode your in on the touch screen, they can control the steering wheel tilt/positioning, Windshield wipers, AP as described above and other things. It's really quite ingenious.

  12. I forsee accident rates doubling in the near future! Oops, sorry, I was trying to adjust the safe distance keeping between my car and yours on my giant tablet when my car rear-ended yours.

  13. Hey, you can adjust the car distance between you and other cars using the steering wheel control button you don't have to use the screen. I think tesl a is looking at these critics and updating the car continuously….brillant…I love it! An evolving automobile

  14. does it have HUD? The instrumment panel is gone, so to see your speed and revs you'd have to look to the side which is not safe if you ask me.

  15. I am not a Tesla owner and I think some of your “unsafe” comments are BS. There are many settings in my Mercedes that I set and never need to reset and if I felt I had to reset, I would only do it parked.

  16. I'm not concerned about what the difference is between the Model S and the Model 3 as you reference quite a bit. As a person who has not driven a model S or X, and have ordered a Model 3, why do I care what other cars do or don't do?

  17. Safety is something these ergonomic designers completely did not think about. Buttons are not a bad thing if it keeps the driver focused on doing what's most important – driving. Touchscreen has become intuitive when it comes to users staying still. Touchscreen is NOT intuitive when the user needs to do more than one activity at a time.

  18. In my book, technology should make life easier and more simple. Not more complicated and unsafe. What's wrong with having an extra stock for the wipers or cruise control? Cars have had that for I don't know how long and I have honestly never heard anyone complain about that. How on earth does jamming absolutely everything into a touchscreen make a car better? The lack of an instrument cluster or a screen like in the Model S/X in front of you is absurd as well. They could have at least added a HUD so you don't have to take your eyes of the road every time you want to check your speed or the navigation.
Either Tesla was trying way too hard to do something different here just for the sake of it or they did it because of cost cutting. Either way a really bad decision that takes a lot from an otherwise great car.

  19. At least one would hope so. I like the idea of a paradigm shift in design. But I would like control of wipers, and cruise control. I have a Car with good automatic wipers, but can attest that in some conditions such as snow on cold days they do not keep up adequately, especially in blowing drifting snow thrown up by larger trucks on the highway.

  20. I’m assuming Tesla plans to correct what people view as unsafe flaws in touchscreen commands while driving with future updates to voice command?

  21. Model 3 looks like an excellent car! The ONLY thing holding me back is the control for the windshield wipers, and setting the speed and follow-distance on the cruise-control. Some things I just want to do blindly and have it right near the steering wheel for the best driving experience, and I really wish they can add these as levers soon.

  22. Honestly, i dont get the bitching about this car.
All of the things on that car can be software updated, i dont see the BMW`s doing that ?(yes i bring up BMW cause this guy keeps comparing the model 3 to 3 series) nope.. u have to ask them to change the interface or whatever. While Tesla can do it just with a software update.
Plus the 3 series fully loaded is 5k more expensive then tesla fully loaded…

And people here comparing Model 3 Autopilot with Audi A8 autopilot? like, r u drunk? The A8 is like 3 times more expensive, i dont see audi putting autopilot in their normal cars like tesla…

  23. PUSHING MIST BRINGS UP THE WIPER SCREEN (AS SEEN IN OTHER VIDEOS).
I'M GUESSING THE DISTANCE DURING AUTO PILOT WILL BE SET ONCE LIKE REGEN,DOOR OPENING, ETC.
